The season finale of Nigerian Idol (Season 7) took place over the weekend, with Progress Chukwuyem winning victorious. Kingdom Kroseidem, who won the tournament last year, is his successor.
MultiChoice Nigeria produces the weekly program, which gives a platform for unknown local talent to begin their careers. IK Osakioduwa hosted the seventh season of Nigerian Idol, and the competition’s judging panel comprised performers D’banj and Simi, as well as industry veteran Obi Asika.
The 21-year-old beat off another contender Zadok for the N100 million grand prize, which included a cash award, a brand new SUV, financing for an EP and a music video, and sponsored merchandise. Zadok will also have an EP and video produced by a well-known Nigerian producer.
Progress remarked after winning, “Thank you very much to everyone who took the time to vote from Day 1 till this moment.” Thank you for making my dream come true.”
