Central Regional Minister pledges support for National Energy Transition agenda

The Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Asaan, has lauded the Energy Transition Agenda by the Ministry of Energy.

She has thus pledged the support of regional stakeholders as the transition team engages the country.

She made these remarks at a conference held at the Ridge Royal Hotel in Cape Coast when the transition team called on the regional stakeholders.

At the conference, the leader of the Ministry of Energy delegation, Deputy Energy Minister, Hon. William Aidoo, explained the importance of Ghana moving towards a net-zero emission.

The Deputy Minister, who is also a Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre South, underscored the effects of fossil-fuel-based energy on the environment and the steps government has put in place to mitigate its effects

ā€œWe have moved from the old ways of fossil energy to power our electricity generation plants, to the use of natural gas which is much cleaner and saferā€, the deputy minister said.

ā€œRenewable energy is also another component of the mix that we are championing to reach the net-zero we envisageā€, he added.

The audience expressed their satisfaction with the engagements and assured the transition committee of their willingness to spread the message to their localities.

The transition committee after the Central Region will move to the Western-North Region later this week, and end with a final tour in the Oti Region.
