Wegeiwor, a Ghanaian gospel singer, is doing something fresh and great, and we need to pay more attention to her. She’s been experimenting with songs in her indigenous languages from Northern Ghana for a time now (where she hails from).
Unlike other Ghanaian Gospel musicians, Wegeiwor is pushing an endeavor to make the dozens of Northern Ghanaian languages (more) audible acceptable while preaching to the public via Gospel music.
Her most recent single, “M Pag Ya,” was published on Distrokid on Sunday, May 22, 2022. (the main dialect spoken by Dagombas from the Northern Region of Ghana). It describes characteristics that reflect God’s dominance.
Some of the lyrics she shares with us have some of these tremendous characteristics, for example:
Nawuni Tobbia (God Our warrior)
Nawuni Tiligira ( God Our Deliverer)
Nawuni Faara (God Our Savior)
I’m grateful (M Pag Ya)
Nawuni Kpienlana (God Almighty)
Nawuni, yikolana (God The Supreme One)
Nawuni lagazibu (God Of Wonders)
I’m grateful (M Pag Ya)
