Buhari Orders Civil Servants To Close At 1pm To Mobilise Support For Super Eagles’ Clash With Ghana

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government of Nigeria has directed all civil servants to close at 1 pm ahead of the second leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup double-header playoff qualifiers between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars of Ghana.

The move, according to a communique issued on Monday (March 28) by Dr. Ngozi Onwudiwe, Permanent Secretary (Service Welfare Office) for the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, was to mobilise support for the Nigerian team at the 60,000-capacity MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja or at home via television.

“As you are aware, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be meeting the Black Stars of Ghana in continuation of the 2022 FIFA World-Cup Qualifier, Playoff, (Return Leg). There is a need to mobilise support for the Nigerian Team. Consequently, I am directed to inform you that all offices will be closed at 1.00pm on Tuesday, 29th March, 2022. Permanent Secretaries are requested to give this circular wide publicity to achieve the desired result.”

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a 0-0 draw by Ghana in the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ashanti.

The Super Eagles will reportedly have Buhari in attendance when Nigeria face the Black Stars of Ghana Pulse Nigeria
