Forest’s owner has promised to invest in the club’s return to the Premier League.

After securing their return to the Premier League by defeating Huddersfield Town in the Championship playoff final at Wembley, Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis said that the club would get the necessary money to sign quality players.

Forest were demoted from the Premier League in 1999, and they will join Bournemouth and Fulham in the Premier League after winning automatic promotion.

Marinakis, a shipowner who also owns Olympiakos, the Greek club, took over the twice European Champions in 2017.

Marinakis told Sky Sports on Sunday, “It’s a beautiful night, not just for myself but for the hundreds, if not millions, of followers in the United Kingdom and throughout the globe.”

“We must, as I said over five years ago, restore Nottingham Forest to its rightful place. Now we’re hungry for more. Now that we’ve returned to the Premier League, our goal is to finish as high as possible.

“We need to arm the squad with strong players with as much firepower as possible.”

Forest head coach Steve Cooper praised his team’s “feeling of confidence” after taking over the club in September last year when they were bottom of the Championship standings.

Cooper told reporters, “Every time we’ve had an ordinary performance or a defeat, we’ve rebounded.” “We’ve only ever lost two games in a row once, and it was against Huddersfield, but we came back.

“We’ve just reminded the world that it’s a fantastic football club.”

Forest, who upset Sheffield United to reach the playoff final, won the English title in 1978 and went on to win the European Cup in 1979 and 1980 under Brian Clough.
