According to Complex, J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival in Raleigh in 2022 earned more than $6 million in direct economic effect.
According to a press statement published on Tuesday, 80,000 people attended this year’s event, which took place over two days in April in Dorothea Dix Park. Meanwhile, the economic effect statistic is described as a “conservative estimate” based only on the impact of tourism. According to the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau, the 2022 event had a direct economic effect of $6.7 million in Wake County.
The data indicating the event’s beneficial effect on the area were “unbelievable,” according to Dreamville partner and festival president Adam Roy on Tuesday.
“Since closing down the second Dreamville Festival last April, my team and I have been astounded by the enormous support we’ve gotten,” Roy said, adding that he and the team want this sort of effort to continue “for years to come.”
The 2022 Dreamville roster included Lil Baby, Kehlani, Fivio Foreign, BIA, Rico Nasty, T-Pain, Morray, Cole himself, and more. The Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy and the Dreamville Foundation will each get a percentage of the revenues. The latter is a partnership with the City of Raleigh and will operate as a preservation organization for Dorothea Dix Park.
