Ukrainian footballer wells up as crowd show their support

Ukrainian striker Roman Yaremchuk was greeted with rapturous applause when he came onto the pitch as a substitute for SL Benfica on Sunday.

Fans in the crowd for the game against Vitoria SC in Portugal’s Primeira Liga held up signs saying “Stop War” and “Ukraine, we are with you”.

A camera close-up on Yaremchuk showed his bottom lip quivering and eyes filling with tears as he saw the support he was receiving.

Benfica won the match 3-0.
