Vice President Bawumia inaugurates new VAG Board reiterating govt’s commitment to welfare of Veterans

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, has sworn into office a new Governing Board for the Veterans Administration of Ghana, VAG, in line with the Veterans Administration Ghana Act (Act 844). Inaugurating the Board at Jubilee House, Vice President Bawumia reiterated the commitment of the government to the welfare of retired soldiers. He charged the new Board to resolve contemporary challenges facing veterans and surviving spouses and make their tenure of office a memorable one.

The 13-member Board is led by Major General Clayton Yaachie. The members are Brig. Gen Amoah Boakye, Col Emmanuel T Darquah , Capt. Ben Edmund Duah, Maj Derek Oduro and Maj Anim Alex. The rest are Ex-WO1 Koranteng Samuel Smart, Ex-WO1 Omane Joseph Evans, Ex-WO1 Dozie Kwesi Gyilley, Ex-WO1 Daniel Kwateng, Cecilia Amoah, and a representative each from the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.

Vice President Bawumia congratulated the Veterans and Service Personnel on their patriotism, love and willingness to serve and sacrifice for this nation, Ghana adding that their welfare and well-being are a national obligation that cannot be neglected.

The Veterans Association of Ghana is an Association of former Servicemen Personnel of the then Gold Coast Regiment and the Ghana Armed Forces.
